We Can Do This – We Must!
We the people have the power to resist Trump’s encroaching fascism and take back the US House and Senate this fall – if enough of us take action.
There are many high impact actions we can take! No one can do them all, but we can all do something! Choose the ones that work best for you.
#1: Make three phone calls
Call Senators Markey (617-565-8519) and Warren (617-565-3170), thank them for their opposition to funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ask them to help the Democratic caucus to stay strong and united in this fight! Also, ask them to refuse to vote for even $1 of funding for Trump’s Iran war!
Call Governor Healy (617-725-4005) and demand that she terminate the state’s 287(g) collaborative agreement contract with ICE. We are the ONLY remaining blue state in New England to still have such an agreement.
Use 5Calls.org as often as you can to make other calls to elected officials.
#2: Call our Representatives
Call our State Representative Hadley Luddy at 617-722-2582 and our State Senator Julian Cyr at 617-722-1570 and ask them to do everything in their power to pass the Safe Communities Act, the Dignity not Deportations Act, and the Immigrant Legal Defense Act to help keep Massachusetts residents safer from ICE and CBP agents.
Note, if you are not an Outer Cape voter, you can click Find My Legislator to get the numbers of your State Legislators, and you can click Find My US Legislators to get the numbers of your US Representative and Senators.
#3: Write postcards
Wondering if postcards make a difference? Check out these results from the different postcard initiatives in which we’ve participated:
- Field Team 6 sent 2.5 million cards to encourage registration of new Dems in flippable districts. Results: 20% of recipients registered as a Blue or Purple voter!
- Activate America sent 9.3 million cards to infrequent/newly registered voters. Results: Increased turnout in target races by 1 – 3% (more than many loss margins).
- Center for Common Ground Reclaim our Vote sent 4.1 million cards to BIPOC folks. Results: Black turnout among these recipients increased as much as 8%.

#5 Volunteer with Ground Truth
Help Democrats rebuild trust, win tough races and flip the House with Swing Left’s Ground Truth, the new Deep Canvassing program in person and via phone banks.
The 2026 midterms are our next big chance to unseat Republicans and reverse the creep of authoritarian politics. Flipping the House is step one in checking this administration’s agenda and building toward a full-fledged Democratic trifecta in 2028.
But we can’t keep talking to the same voters in the same way and expect a different result. Ground Truth is different and better than the canvassing and phone banks of the past, because we are:
- Going big by talking to all swing district voters, not just likely Dems, because traditional voter contact too often misses persuadable voters.
- Listening deeply to voters’ real-world concerns, in a non-judgmental manner that encourages voters to talk about the specific challenges in their communities.
- Starting earlier than ever.
- Using brand-new technology to directly share on-the-ground insights and rich data to strengthen the most competitive Democratic House campaigns.
It Works!
The Ground Truth pilot program that ran last fall and included 467 deep conversations with voters produced these exciting results:
- People open up when we show up differently. Two thirds of the people who opened their doors to the canvassers talked for 10 – 15 minutes.
- We’re finding new supporters. One in four of the people tagged “very unlikely” expressed serious concerns about Trump and the direction of the country. Through Ground Truth, we’ve not only found these voters, but we know what their top concerns are, paving the way for persuadable conversations as we get closer to the election.
- It’s more fun! 93% of the volunteer canvassers in the pilot said they’d recommend this program to other volunteers.

If you have phone banked before, you could start right away, because each session begins with training. You will likely find this phone bank to be different and better than your previous experiences. It’s amazing what a shift from telling to listening can do to make these conversations more productive and enjoyable.
